![]() ![]() After erasing all content and settings, your device will restart with a fresh installation of macOS. This will erase all data from your device, including system settings, documents, photos, music and apps. Finally, click Erase All Content and Settings to initiate the reset process. Reset your login password using your Apple ID If you associated your user account with your Apple ID, you can use your Apple ID to reset your login password. From there, click General in the sidebar and then click Transfer or Reset on the right. Sometimes a login password needs to be resetfor example, if you have forgotten the login password and can’t use a password hint to remember it. To reset your MacBook Air, fist open the Apple menu ? in the corner of your screen and select System Settings. Once you have reinstalled macOS, you should be able to access your Mac without a password. After erasing the disk, select Reinstall macOS from the macOS Utilities window and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall macOS. Select your startup disk from the list of disks in Disk Utility, then click Erase. Once you have entered Recovery Mode, select Disk Utility from the macOS Utilities window. To do this, you will need to start up your Mac in Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Command (?) and R keys on the keyboard immediately aftr pressing the power button. In order to remove a password from a locked Mac, you will need to reset your Mac. ![]()
